Single Hop Citra

This is a fantastic beer!

Very simple to make, and the results come out very similar to the old favourite award winning Oakham Ales Citra beer. This is a single hop beer, using one type of hop only.

The method to make this golden zesty beer is straightforward, the ingredients are as follows. You can follow my step by step extract guide located here to make this. If you want the beer a little stringer or weaker then just adjust the level of malt accordingly.

3kg light / pale spray malt (this will result around 4.5%-5%)
50g citra dried hops or pellets (I prefer pellets)
Priming sugar (I suggest using 75g)
Follow my extract step by step guide, but weigh the hops out as follows and add at the following times.
20g citra - boil for the full hour
20g citra - boil for the last 20 minutes
10g citra - add at end of boil

Chill, strain and ferment as normal.

This will result in a beer of around 45 IBU and a nice citrussy hoppy flavour.

The beer is ready to drink once it is clear but will vastly improve with a few weeks of aging in bottles or a keg.
